$RMG Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne said the U.K. government will sell its remaining shares in Royal Mail Plc to help reduce the national debt.

The 30 percent stake -- currently valued at about 1.5 billion pounds ($2.3 billion) -- will be sold later this year, the Treasury said in an e-mailed statement Thursday. The government appointed Rothschild to advise on the sale.

$RMG Royal Mail’s challenger, TNT Post UK rebranding to “whistl” shows they are trugling with sales and marketing. I bet this move would not be effective as TNT sounded like a serious brand which is important for a logistics company and Whistl will sound like fun which means you would not send serious post through Whistl #buy for Royal Mail

The company operates in two divisions: UK Parcels, International & Letters (UKPIL); and General Logistics Systems (GLS). The UKPIL division collects and delivers parcels and letters primarily through the Royal Mail Core Network and Parcelforce Worldwide networks; and carries out various other letter-related business activities, including marketing mail consulting services. It offers collection and delivery services under the Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide brands. This division also designs and produces stamps and philatelic products; processes international mail under the reciprocal arrangements with other postal administrations; and delivers promotional direct marketing mail to homes and businesses. The GLS division operates ground-based deferred parcel delivery networks in Europe, which covers 37 European countries and nation states with services provided through a combination of wholly-owned and partner companies.
