ICICI Bank Ltd, India's largest private-sector lender, is in talks to sell 5% (part of its stake) in a life insurance joint venture to Temasek Holdings Pte and Carmignac Gestion for about $300 million, according to a Bloomberg report.

ICICI owns 74 percent of the joint venture, with the remaining 26 percent held by UK insurer Prudential. $PRU

$PRU 2014 The strong dollar is playing heavily against Prudential: IFRS operating profit for the group 14% at constant ex. rates but 8% at actual exchange rates.

At constant exchange rates all but UK showed nice growth: Asia +17%, US +17%, UK +6%, M&G +11%.

$PRU @Barry-Gardiner I agree with your line of thinking, but the platform (team, strategy, processes, culture) built by Tidjane Thiam is very strong so growth slowdown will be obvious only in 2-3 years and only then it will be incorporated in the stock price #bullish for 1-2 years and then we should evaluate new CEO's performance

$PRU Make no mistake. Tidjane Thiam was behind Asia growth and other achievements. When he became Prudential PLC CEO in 2009 Cash remittances to Group from Asia was almost zero, in 2014 it's 27%. He was not afraid for big push in Asia as a man who had wide experience with not only EM but with 3d world countries: 1994-1999 he was top gov official in Côte d'Ivoire. Unless Prudential PLC finds a new CEO of the same caliber and at least EM experience the growth will slow down. #hold
